About Global Reach Partnerships (GRP)

Global Reach Partnerships is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization with both the United States Internal Revenue Service and the State of Vermont. The Global Reach Partnerships assists young refugees to establish partnerships with positive role models and leaders in the Vermont community. This program is a catalyst to future achievement and opportunities for these refugees as they adapt to life in Vermont and the United States. Local business and organization leaders take the initiative and time to teach these ‘New Americans’ the lessons not typically taught in the classroom. Whether it’s writing a resume, explaining a curve ball, going for a hike, or seeking advice on career choices and assistance in developing their own business either here or in their homeland, the Global Reach Partnerships helps to “fill-in” some of the missing pieces that were lost while refugees were facing challenges of conflict, poverty, loss of family and friends, and numerous resettlements during their transition to the United States.

The "Lost Boys" of Sudan

GRP plans to offer its program to various resettled refugees in Vermont (and in the future, elsewhere), but during the initial phase, it will focus on the "Lost Boys" from Sudan. These men were forced into displacement, orphanhood, soldiery, or all three. Of the nearly 30,000 "Lost Boys", approximately 4,000 of them have been resettled in the United States. Currently, the Burlington area is home to nearly five dozen "Lost Boys," nearly all of whom are Mentees with GRP.
